Allman Brothers Band Album Cover
In 1970, I was briefly in Macon, Georgia to do the photography and album design for a new band's 2nd release, "Idlewild South". The cover features the only studio portrait of the original Allman Brothers Band which was taken prior to the sudden death of the band's founder Duane Allman, followed by the subsequent death of bassist Barry Oakley - both due to tragic motorcycle accidents. Fortunately the band recovered in time, gathered momentum and the rest of the epic story is legendary. Rolling Stone would later name the release of Idlewild South as one of the 40 most groundbreaking albums of all time.
